February is the Month to Celebrate Heart & Home!
Here is a list of responses to Frequently Asked Questions about Harmony Natural Design's approach to holistic interior design - a green, healing & occupant centred design philosophy. Please feel free to join the discussion by visiting BLOG "Healing Spaces"
* What distinguishes holistic design from other design traditions? Holistic design is occupant centred and does not rely on trends or high consumption. It effectively addresses how one feels and functions in a space rather than shifting all the attention to how a space "looks". There are two pillars to this design philosophy: green & healing. Seven tools are used to improve Indoor Air Quality and to set the right Mood & Energy Level according to the Lifestyle intention of each space.
*What about decor trends? As an intuitive designer, I encourage what I refer to as "trend energy" vis-a-vis inspired new decor choices as they apply to a client's space and needs at that time. Change is good.
*Is this feng shui? No. A healing and green interior does not depend on this. However, elements of this and other traditions such as Vastu and Earth Medicine can be used in a forward looking manner to achieve a vital and energetic space.
*What is meant by "healing" design? This refers to creating a vital and energetic space: uplifting in active spaces, calm and serene where relaxtion is in order. A space where the occupant feels grounded and empowered in a supportive space for a creative and healthy lifestyle.
*Must natural colors be "earth tones"? Have you seen a sunrise, the azure blue of the sky or observed a riot of color in a summer garden? Your color answers are all found in Nature's vast palette.
*What decor and style traditions are associated with holistic design? It's your choice...I look forward to continuing our dialogue!
